Toddler Tuesday

In an effort to bring more structure and stability to my toddler's life, I have now placed a monthly calendar in her room. Every morning we cross of the previous day, talk about what day of the week it is, and take a look at the activities we have planned for the day. Mainly, I'm hoping to create a visual for her for activities that are happening in the future. We've been promising to take her to the museum to see the dinosaurs, and I keep having to say things like "soon", or "next weekend" and I know she doesn't understand the time gap. So, I'm hoping that with the calendar, I can place the event on the day we are going and then we can count down the days until we go. This way she'll be able to see that we do have a date set, and hopefully understand the "waiting" a little better. I'm also using the calendar to clear up confusion. We started going to Thursday morning prayer at the church and Em got really confused thinking it was Sunday and wondering where daddy was and why we weren't going to Taco Bell. (Taco Bell is our Sunday afternoon ritual) So, by placing the two events on the calendar, I'm hoping that will limit her confusion.

How about you? I would love to hear your ideas on what you do to create structure and stability in your toddler's life. Link up with Mr. Linky or leave a comment! Have a great week!

I kinda did the same thing, but i printed out a calender for connor that already had a lot of ideas. I like it it makes it a little easier/ I still think children of there age have no real concept of a time period. But it is nice to show them what's going on.
