The materials: Lots of colorful leaves, pine needles, contact paper, and toddler
Here is Em putting the leaves on
I could have done more, like put colored construction paper behind the leaves, added some glitter, or added some paint or stickers before putting on the back layer of contact paper. But, Em lost interest quickly so we just left it plain. If you've got contact paper lying around the house, make sure to try it! It's makes a fun place mat for the kids to eat off of, or a lovely mat for a girly tea party (as I have discovered this morning).
Another thing we did this week was apple picking! It's a great activity to do as a family, and with your toddler. Most of the branches were low enough that Emily could pick the apples on her own. Of course, the ones she picked aren't exactly edible, but it was the fun we had that counts! We also picked up some corn from the farm stand, and later on Emily helped me shuck it. Not only is this activity fun, but educational too! It teaches the young ones where some of the food we eat comes from.
